Join us for our Harvest Fair at The Ballance House, Glenavy, on Saturday 13 October 2018 from 12pm – 4pm.
Enjoy a light lunch or afternoon tea in our tea barn and take advantage of all our free activities for the afternoon.
Hillsborough flower-arranger Rosalind Haire will be showcasing her skills in flower-arranging at 1.30 and 2.30 with lots of take-home tips and ideas. Displays will be for sale afterwards. Seating limited!
Conor & Johnny, Saw & Forge, will be doing chainsaw wood-carving demos. Pieces will be available to buy and orders taken.
Honey Badgers Go-karting will take place on the lawn all afternoon. Suitable for children aged between 4 and 12 years old.
Little Paws Children’s Dog Training Club will be showing off their child & dog partnership skills with taster sessions. Bring your dog, young or not so young along, and have a go at some fun agility, learn how to teach your dog a new trick and maybe even some basic obedience!
Just for the kids, singalong with Rhyme Time NI at 1.30, then make a stuffed apple and apple bird-feeder to take home.
We will be welcoming new stallholders to our established craft market, including:
Alternative Angles who produce a range of gifts made by adults with learning disabilities to fund a progression to employment scheme.
Cherryvally Farm will have a great selection of homegrown Fruit & Veg for sale.
WoodenItBeNice will have a range of garden furniture on display, pieces to purchase and orders taken.
More crafts include decoupage, art, glass, jewellery, chocolates, jams and chutneys, walking sticks and other naturally made crafts. The RSPB will be talking about their ‘Give Nature a Home’ campaign and there will be a selection of apples for sale.
All proceeds go the upkeep of The Ballance House. Entrance donation is £3 for adults, £1 children, and under 5s free. All activities are FREE.
The Ballance House is a farmhouse museum and birthplace of John Ballance, New Zealand’s Premier 1891–93. The house is open to the public between April and September on Sundays 2 pm – 5 pm and bank holidays (excluding 12th July) and can be booked for group visits all year round.
